William Badgett Sr.

William Badgett Sr.

South Glens Falls – William M. Badgett Sr., 83, passed away on Sunday, December 30th, 2012.  He was born on July 27th, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Loch and Ella Elmore Badgett.

William married the love of his life Patricia Sabino, they were married for 47 years.  She predeceased him on February 22nd, 2000.

William was a thoroughbred jockey in his younger years and worked for Woody Stevens breaking yearlings at the estate of Harry F. Guggenheim, Port Washington, Long Island.  For many years, William worked as an assistant trainer and in his later years he worked for his son William Badgett Jr, until his retirement.

He had a great deal of love for his family, friends and horses.  He was very soft-spoken, kind, compassionate and a devoted family man.  His blue eyes and great smile won everyone’s love.

William is survived by:  sons, William Jr. Badgett, Michael (JoAnn) Badgett,Tracy (Dina) Badgett  and Anthony Sabino; daughters, Peggy (Bob) Jenkins and Nina Curley; sisters, Doris (Buddy) Sales and Betty Smith; grandchildren, Michael (Susan) Badgett Jr., Margaret Jenkins, Brooke, Brandon, Brian Badgett, Alexis Rose Badgett and Maja Sabino; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Amia.
                                                               
He was pre-deceased by parents, wife, brother, Louis and nine sisters.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Nurses Maureen and Kerri from at The Pines, along with William’s aides Matthew, Ashley, Kelley, Tiffany and Christy for the great care and compassion they gave to William.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5th, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, NY.  Friends and family may call from 9:00 -10:45 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Rosa Marie Durr

Rosa Marie Durr

Saratoga Springs – Rosa Durr, 45, of Saratoga Springs entered into eternal Life suddenly on Monday, December 24, 2012. Born on March 4th, 1967 in Orlando, Florida, she was the daughter of Rev. Rose Durr and the late Robert Durr. 


Rosa served her country as a member of the US Navy.  She worked at State Farm Insurance, in Malta, for 21 years. Rosa joined Mary A. Carter Temple #362 I.B.P.O.E of W., May 18th, 2009. She held the Office of Chaplain and later became Treasurer.  She was a Trustee for the Capital City Council and became a Trustee for the Zelma E. Young Past State Presidents N.Y.S. Auxiliary. She served the community in which she lived, and was known for her strong character and faithful spirit. She will be remembered for her compassion for those less fortunate and her amazing ability to master the ‘extended family’ by arranging community events that benefited so many.
She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. When faced with adversity, Rosa would quote her favorite song ‘There’s a blessing in the storm’, which was never truer than her gift of life as an organ donor.
Rosa is survived by her beloved mother; Rev. Rose Durr; her fiancĂ©, Arron Ford; son, Michael Jemison; daughter, Alicia Jemison (Moses Jackson); her beloved granddaughter, Kimberlee Arron Rose Jackson; sisters, Theresa and Benita Durr; brothers, Timothy Loving and Robert Durr Jr. ; father of her children, Michael Jemison and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services will be held at the Universal Baptist Temple, 25 Washington St., Saratoga Springs NY 12866. at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2012.  Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Universal Baptist Temple.  Mary A. Carter Temple Service will be held at 10 a.m.
Burial with military honors will be in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave., Saratoga Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY .
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family at Compassionate Funeral Care.
