Sylvia Georgeadis, 67, of Saratoga Springs, NY passed away
at home peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 8, 2013 after a courageous battle with breast cancer
that spanned over the last ten years.
She was able to find the best in every day and was able to thank God for every one she lived. Sylvia was born on February 5th, 1946 in New
Kensington, PA. She was the daughter of
the late Pete and Mary Rodites of New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Sylvia was the high school sweetheart and wife
of Alexander Georgeadis for over 49 years.
Sylvia moved to South Windsor, Connecticut in 1964 where she lived for
40 years. She was a legal secretary in
Hartford, South Windsor and Vernon, Connecticut for several years. Sylvia also served as president of the South
Windsor YW Club where she and her husband enjoyed the many people they met
while living there. In 1985 Sylvia took
a job as a guidance secretary at South Windsor High School where she worked
until her retirement in 2006. She so
much enjoyed working with the guidance department that was a second family to
her. She loved all the students she was
able to help through the years with their college search process. They loved calling her "Mrs. G."
Some of Sylvia's favorite pastimes were reading, cooking,
and taking college courses at the local community college. Her best times were those spent with her husband
and children by birth and by marriage as well as her six grandchildren. They were all the joy of her life. Sylvia loved watching her grandchildren finding
joy in the same things she once enjoyed as a child. She was a long time member of the Saint
George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Hartford, CT. She was also an editor of the church newspaper,
"The Saint George Herald," and also the "St. George Consecration Book." After retiring to Saratoga Springs, NY she
