Mary T. (Traudt) King
Mary T. (Traudt) King, age 77, passed away on September 24, 2014
at Prestwick Chase, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 11, 1937 in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter
of Fred Traudt and Gladys (Buddle) Traudt.
Mary graduated from
Canajoharie High School, in 1954. Upon graduating, she worked in offices
in Albany and Syracuse. After her 1962 marriage in Syracuse, she and her
family lived in Buffalo, Ballston Lake, New Milford (CT), New Zealand, and
Saratoga Springs. Over those years, she earned a strong reputation for
competence and loyalty – for example, when she was the Tax Collector for New
Milford
.
Mary learned to weave in New Zealand, and enjoyed using her
Glimakra loom (which she called “my computer”) to make blankets, scarves, and
table-runners for family and friends.
Mary is survived by her husband Bruce W. King ; daughter;
Kristen Perrine (James), son; David King (Margie), sister; Susan Beaver,
brother; Fritz Traudt, sisters-in-law; Patricia Marciniec (Chester), Alice
King, 4 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fred Traudt and Gladys
(Buddle) Traudt, and by her brother Robert Traudt.
A funeral service in honor of Mary will be held on Saturday,
October 4th 2014, 12:00 noon, at Compassionate Funeral Care,
402 Maple Ave. (Route 9 Marion Ave) Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Calling hours will be held from 9:30 am to 11:45 am prior to the
service at the Funeral Home. After the
service friends and family are welcome to join us at The Saratoga Wilton Elks
Lodge 161, behind the Funeral Home for further fellowship and lunch.
Interment following the luncheon will be at Maplewood Cemetery,
Saratoga Springs, NY.
If you wish, donations in memory of Mary may be given to the Saratoga
Hospice, 179 Lawrence Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or the Thrift Mart of
New Milford, 146 Danbury Road, New Milford, CT 06776.
