Douglas Rocco Quarters, age 58, passed away on Friday, May
29th, 2015 at home in St. Petersburg, Florida after battling cancer
for many years.
He was born on January 13th, 1957 in Glens Falls,
New York to Donald Quarters and Ilean Wible.
Douglas graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1975 and
received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Clarkson University in
1979. He served as a correctional
officer at Great Meadows Correctional Facility for 27 years, retiring in April
2011. In his retirement, he was able to
enjoy all the things he loved including hunting, fishing, and exploring the
outdoors. He traveled around the U.S.
and accomplished his dream of living on the Gulf of Mexico before he
passed. Doug lived to the fullest and
made an impact on all those who met him.
Douglas is survived by his mother, Ilean, daughter,
Jacqueline Quarters, his sister, Sheila Whiteman, nephew Jason Whiteman and his
wife Catherine and their four children Jack, Anna, Kate, and Connor, and nephew
Damien Whiteman and his wife Kimberly and their three children, Cassidy, Quinn,
and Reese. He also had many close
friends throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father Donald Quarters and
his brother, Michael Quarters.
A memorial celebration for Doug will be held from 5pm to 8pm
on June 18th at Saluto Pub on 186 Main Street in Hudson Falls. In lieu of flowers, Doug’s family would like
to honor his memory and commitment to help runaway and homeless youth by having
monetary gifts donated to the local youth shelter, Waite House, P.O. Box 3252,
Glens Falls, NY 12801.
