Karen Sue Salley, a
longtime resident of Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully at her home at the
age of 59 on Tuesday, November 3rd after a courageous battle
with cancer. Born on April 20th, 1956 in Schuylerville, New
York was
the daughter of the late Loren and Jean Salley.
Karen is survived by her
lifelong loving partner Bob “Sprocket” Eckardt, their son, Loren Eckardt and
his wife Diana of Braunschweig, Germany, her sister Nancy Wood, brothers Joe,
Tim and Dean Salley and her many nieces and nephews. Karen was a devoted
employee of the Saratoga National Historical Park for 25 years from 1990 until
2015.
She enjoyed travelling
with her family to Europe, taking cruises through the Caribbean with friends,
visiting Clearwater Beach,Florida, taking long motorcycle rides through the
winding countryside with Bob and spending time in the garage with her many
cherished friends. Much time was spent tending to her meticulous garden and
providing endless loving care and support to her son. Karen was an amazing
partner and beautiful mother who will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday
November 7th, 2015 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or
Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Calling hours will be held from 10am–11:45pm on Saturday,
November 7th, 2015 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Her
family would like to express our extended gratitude to the Community Hospice
employees, Doctors and caring family, Patty Riggi, Linda Perry, Kathy Goodwin
and John and Sue Sammut for their support. Karen was surrounded by an
extraordinary amount of love until her passing for which we are forever
grateful.

ReplyDeleteKaren Sue was our classmate, class of 1975 Schuylerville High School. I remember bonding with her in 1969 when her brother Joe and my brother Tom left for the army. We both cried our eyes out.
