Eleanore Mousseau Coon

Stillwater – Eleanore Mousseau Coon, 60, of Stillwater, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital with her daughters at her side.

She was born on Jan. 19, 1953 the daughter of the late Edward J. and Jacqueline Masse Johnson.

Eleanore was raised in Cohoes NY and graduated from Shaker High School of Latham, NY in 1971.  She then obtained her associates degree in computer science.

Eleanore was a kind,  loving, wife, mother & grandmother. She enjoyed camping, arts & crafts, gardening, scary movies, cooking and most of all spending time with her children & grandchildren.  She will be cherished, remembered & greatly missed be all.

Eleanore is survived by her daughters Kristie Mousseau DeVoe, Carrie Slack (William), Stefanie Mousseau (Jonah), and Jennifer Mousseau; her brothers Michael Johnson, Thomas Pottenburgh (Kim), and Joseph Pottenburgh;  her sisters Carolyn Van Vranken and Jacquelyn Arnold; and her grandchildren Jeremy Mousseau, Christopher DeVoe, Alyssa DeVoe, Kaden Slack, Madden Slack and her best friend Laurie Lyons (Yik & Yak)

Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents and brother Edward Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs.  Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Richard Andrew Winslow

Richard Andrew Winslow, 70, of Gansevoort died Sunday August 18, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Born December 30, 1942 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Richard Frost Winslow and Kathleen Louisa (Phelps) Winslow and he grew up in Glens Falls, NY.

Richard served his country in the US Navy from 1960 - 1980.  He retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

On March 13th, 1965 he married the love of his life, Natalie Theresa Terrell.

He was employed at the Foster Wheeler Company in Hudson Falls, NY where he worked as a control room operator.  He retired in 2004.

  

His past-times included boxing, hunting, gardening, bird watching and everything related to being outdoors.

Richard is pre-deceased by his father and mother Richard and Kathleen, sisters Dorothy, Linnie and his brother Franklin Winslow.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Natalie Theresa Terrell of Gansevoort, NY and his 4 sons, Ronnie Call (Gina), Richard Winslow Jr., Steven Winslow (Sherry), and William Winslow (Tessie); sisters  Flossie Ireland of South Glens Falls and Joyce Wilm of Warrenton, Virginia.

  

Richard is pre-deceased by his father and mother Richard and Kathleen, sisters Dorothy, Linnie and his brother Franklin Winslow.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 23 at Compassionate Funeral Care, Inc., 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs followed by a committal service at 12:30 pm at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 9:00am to 10:45am prior to the service on Friday, August 23 at the funeral home.  A luncheon celebrating Richard's life will be held for all family and friends at the Elk's Lodge directly behind the funeral home at 2:00pm.

Dorothy H. Pratt, age 85, passed away from complications of pneumonia on Friday, August 16th, 2013, at Saratoga Hospital

She was born in Saratoga, NY the daughter of the late Charles and Lilian Burton King.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Edward and spent 70+ years together raising their 13 wonderful children. 

Dorothy loved children and enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her son Edward Pratt, Jr.; Robert Pratt, (Linda); John Pratt; Tricia Flanders; Robin Conine; Carol Morehouse; Joyce Corlew (Kevin); and Charmaine Elwele; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; children; Donna Akins, Kelly Stuart, William Pratt, Lawrence Pratt and Paul Pratt.

A graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday, August 20^th, 2013 at Greenridge Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.  Friends and family may call on Tuesday, August 20^th, 2013 from 11.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave., (Rte. 9) Saratoga Springs, NY.

Judy Gonyeau Green, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 11, 2013, after an accident.   

She was born in Glens Falls, NY the daughter of the late John H Gonyeau and late Dorothy Snody.

Judy was a free spirit who enjoyed the outdoors.

Judy is survived by her daughter Shannon Tracey (Michael) and granddaughter Phoebe Tracey, of Gansevoort, NY, sisters Jan Murphy (William), Gansevoort, NY, Joanne Generous (Lonnie) of Gloucester, VA, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her nephew Jamie Generous.

Christina P. Baldasaro

Christina P. Baldasaro of Paddock Circle and a longtime resident of Heather Drive in Wilton, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at her home. 

Born on July 15, 1931 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Christina (Casella) Trefz.  Subsequent to her mother’s passing at an early age, Christina was raised by her father and stepmother, Margaret Trefz

Christina met her future husband John P. Baldasaro at a High School basketball game in 1948 and they have been together ever since.  On Dec 27, 1952, they married and they enjoyed 61 wonderful years of marriage.

She grew up in Bronx, NY and was a graduate of Hunter College (CUNY) with a degree in elementary education.  She completed graduate work in home economics at Plattsburgh State Teachers College.  She taught home economics at Mechanicville City School District, retiring after 20 years of service.  She enjoyed teaching young students and always looked forward to her annual fashion shows.

In addition to her being a devoted wife and mother, she was a skilled and patient gardener with an enviable eye for landscape design.  She was a masterful cook who also enjoyed sewing,  bird watching and visits from her “grand dogs” Murphy and Hershey. 

Christina  is survived by her loving husband John P. Baldasaro of Wilton; daughters,  Anne Gongoleski and her husband Philip of Wilton and Joan Baldasaro of Raleigh, NC; son, John Baldasaro and his wife Bonnie of Clifton Park; sister, Margaret Harkins of New Jersey;

Granddaughter, Wendy (Baldasaro) Gaughan and her husband Thomas of Clifton Park. She has one great-grandson Thomas John Gaughan.

A grandson Conor Nelson pre-deceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday, August 15 at St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs.  The Rite of Committal will be held at 12 Noon at Saratoga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes a donation to the Saratoga Hospital Foundation in appreciation for the excellent care she received.

Lee J. Smith

Lee J. Smith of Bayville and Saratoga Springs, NY died on August 2, 2013 following an extended illness.  Lee fought hard, always with a smile and never complained. 

He was born on December 2, 1942 in Glen Cove, NY to the late Joseph and Catherine Smith. 

Lee was a dedicated Glen Cove High School English teacher for over 30 years and a recipient of Teacher of the Year Awards during his career. He was also the proud owner of Lee J Smith Associates in Bayville, NY, a business he built from the ground up beginning in 1974.

Lee was a founding member of the Bayville-Centre Island Rotary Club. He was a Paul Harris recipient.

Lee was an esteemed member and former trustee of Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club and  also a Beaver Dam Winter Sports Club member.

Lee enjoyed Saratoga Springs thoroughly, its charm and history and his love of thoroughbred racing, particularly when Funky Munky Mama would win.

Lee had a gift of making you feel like you were his best friend and family five minutes after you meeting him.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, son Damon and wife Dana and son Derek and two grandsons, Justin and Kyle and sister Deborah Boyle (Bruce) and many beloved aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother Gregory and Marbles.

Funeral service in honor of Lee will be held at Compassionate Funeral Care 402 Maple Ave. (Rte. 9) Saratoga Springs, NY on Tuesday Aug. 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia officiating.

Arnold W. Bruno, 68, of Wilton Gansevoort Road died unexpectedly Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital.

Born April 5, 1945 in Troy, NY, he was the son of Chauncey D. and Lauretta O. (Millington) Bruno and grew up in Clifton Park.

 Arnold served a tour of duty in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1962-1965.

On Sept 12, 1970 he married Catherine J. Bruno.

He was employed at the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY where he worked in various positions, retiring in 1998 as a power plant operator.

He was a founding and life member of the Wilton Emergency Squad, Inc where he served in various positions over the years.

His past-times included ham radio, operating under KA2APN, flying as a private pilot, camping, computers, and helping others. In retirement, he enjoyed going to Florida in the winter and working in the back yard.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by his father in law Harold Montgomery.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cathe Bruno of Wilton, his son Jeffrey W. Bruno and  his wife Debra L. (Berg) Bruno and his  grandchildren whom he adored greatly- Logan & Emily Bruno all of Saratoga Springs.

A brother Curtis Bruno of Fonda and a sister Lois Bruno of Clifton Park.

His mother in law Frances Montgomery and his sister in law Francyne Cunningham both of Clifton Park

Several nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, July 25 at Compassionate Funeral Care, Inc., 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs followed by a committal service with military honors at 1:00pm at Saratoga National Cemetery.  A reception will follow at Wilton Emergency Squad, 1 Harran Lane, Wilton.

EAST GREENBUSH – Rosemary D. Miller, 85, of East Greenbush, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, in the company of her family.

Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank DeSanto and late Mary Luppino Ashley. Rosemary was a 1945 graduate of Philip Schuyler High School and later in life worked as a veritype operator for the NYS Department of Health from which she retired in 1983. She was an active woman who enjoyed bowling and golf, and played in many leagues over the years. Her friendships were many, and they lasted a lifetime.

Rosemary was predeceased by her husband, Edward Miller, and son, Rev. Kenneth R. Miller. She is survived by her son, Stephen E. Miller of Wilton, NY and her niece, Jacqueline DeVito of Northville, NY. She is also survived by dear friends Franklyn Dillon and Teresa Simmons of East Greenbush, NY. Rosemary was most recently a resident at the Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care facility in Clifton Park, NY, where she enjoyed her new friends and participating in many activities.

Rosemary’s family extends our appreciation to the staff at Schuyler Ridge for the care they provided to her. We also wish to acknowledge the staff of Albany Memorial Hospital CCU for the kindness and compassion shown to our mother during her final days.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Aug. 13, 2013, at 11 AM, at Graceland Cemetery 680 Delaware Ave., Albany, NY.  

Edward S. Saxton

Edward S. Saxton, age 90, passed away July 1, 2013 at home with his loving wife Sandra Shoemaker Saxton at his side.

Edward was born April 26, 1923 in Jersey City, NJ. He was the son of the late Lester and Henrietta Barth Saxton.  

He lived in various places in New Jersey and attended Jersey City High School leaving at 16 to join the US Marines. He served his Country from 1939 to 1948 in China, Cuba, Guadal Canal and finally on Islands in the South Pacific during World War II. He was wounded and received two purple hearts.  After the War he attended Cornell University where he received a Masters degree in Labor Management. Returning to New York City he worked in the printing industry, finally becoming the owner operator of Program Printing which did all the programs and other printed material for New York Racing Association. He worked in this field for 32 years. He was an excellent handicapper and after retirement continued to pursue his interest in the horses.

He married Sandra April 21, 1981 and they lived in Staten Island and Queens before retiring to Saratoga Springs. They were married 32 years and shared many happy loving times together.

He became a gourmet cook, coin collector, wood carver and grew roses. He became known for his unique jams and as the muffin man. He loved the opera and ballet and above all the NY Yankees.

Edward is survived by his wife, Sandra and two daughters, Valerie Rothschild (Stephen) and Maria Saxton. He also leaves behind three grandchildren Kim DeFrances (Michael), Stephen Rothschild (Meredith), Matthew Rothschild (Jackie) and four great grandchildren, Michael DeFrances, Matthew DeFrances, Abbey Rothschild and Jack Rothschild.

His extended family includes his sister-in-law and good friend Mary Shoemaker, niece Christina and great nieces, Katlynn and Alexis Lefebvre and a host of wonderful friends.

A Memorial Service will be held for Edward on Saturday July 13, 2013 at 1:30 PM, at the Presbyterian New England Congregational Church UCC Church at 24 Circular Street, Saratoga Springs, NY.

Rita S. (Platek) Sacks

Rita S. Sacks passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital following a short period of declining health.  She was 85.

Born on July 2, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of Benjamin and Alys (Grichman) Platek.

A longtime resident of Old Bridge, NJ, she was employed for many years as a law office paralegal and manager. Growing up she was an accomplished artist and had her work published in commercial magazines. She graduated from Brooklyn College and married shortly after.  Raising three boys, they followed Alan’s business ventures, moving to Ohio, Indiana and finally settling in NJ.  She worked in real estate law for over 50 years before retiring at age 77. She loved camping (RV’ing) in Lake George, playing computer games and spending time with family and friends.  She was known as “Gigi” and Grandma to her 5 grandson’s and enjoyed following their sport’s teams and attending games when she could. She relocated three years ago to Adirondack Manor in Queensbury, NY.  She continued to be amazed by the advances in technology, keeping contact with friends through social media, facetime, and playing the oldies for her friends at the Manor using on-line music apps with her Ipad.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Alan A. Sacks (1988) and a son Sanford J. Sacks (1976).

Survivors include 2 sons:  Stuart Sacks and his wife Kathleen of Clifton Park and N. Scott Sacks and his wife Cathy of Burke, VA.

Grandchildren: Michael Sacks and his wife Claire of Stamford, CT, Justin Sacks of Ashburn, VA; Daniel, Kyle, and Peter Sacks all of Clifton Park.

A brother Rabbi Stanley Platek and his wife Ceil of Long Island.

Twelve nieces and nephews.

Burial was at Beth Israel Memorial Park in Woodbridge, NJ.

A get-together for family and friends in honor of Rita/Mom/Gigi/Grandma will be held from 7pm to 9pm Thursday, June 27 at the home of Stuart & Kathleen Sacks, 56 Brookline Drive, Clifton Park, NY.

Lori J. DeLoriea Chamberlain, age 47, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at St. Peters Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Corinth, NY the daughter of the late Donald DeLoriea and Barbara Swiderski LeBarron.

Lori was a people person, she loved to care for people; she worked as a Home Health Aid for many years.  She had a great love for music, dancing and spending time at Huddle Bay in Bolton Landing, Lake George.

Lori is survived by her mother Barbara LeBarron, Greenfield Ctr, NY; sister Kathleen Fitzgerald (Darryl), Ballston Spa., NY; brothers David DeLoriea, Gansevoort, NY, Timothy DeLoriea, Malta, NY and Ronald DeLoriea San Antonio, Tx.,and many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at St. Clement’s Catholic Church, 231 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs. The Very Rev. Paul Borowski, pastor, will officiate.

Jamie Jo McBride (55) of Saratoga Springs NY, died Friday June 7, 2013 after suffering fatal injuries incurred after being struck by a vehicle in Saratoga Springs NY.  

Born in Ithaca NY to James and Virginia McBride, she grew up in Norwich NY, received her bachelor’s from SUNY Cortland, NY and her master's from Bowling Green State University, OH.  She was a Speech Language Pathologist in both Connecticut and Washington State.   

Previously married to Gregory Tardanico of Mukilteo WA, Jamie will be loved and missed by her many friends and family members.  

She is survived by her son, James (23), her daughter, Jacqueline (16) both of Mukilteo WA; her sister, Virginia McBride (Schindler) of Springville, NY and mother, Virginia Stanford (McBride) of Saratoga Springs NY, along with many nieces and nephews.  

Jamie will most lovingly be remembered as a dedicated and loving mother to two beautiful children and her quiet yet fierce advocacy for the disadvantaged, especially for the autistic, traumatically brain injured and the homeless.

Donna Eleanor Abraham, 78, of Wilton, passed away on June 12, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.  Born March 5, 1935, in South Glens Falls, N.Y., Donna was the daughter of the late Louis and Alice LaBarge Plude.  She was married to her beloved husband Louis Abraham for 55 years until his passing on Jan. 4, 2009.

Survivors include her four children:  Gerald Abraham, Robert Abraham and his wife Joanne, Paul Abraham and his wife Nancy, and Dawn Bennett and her husband Scott, her 4 Grandsons; Christopher and Daryll Abraham, Michael Abraham and his wife Marci, Jason Abraham and his wife Melissa, and 4 great grandchildren; Christopher Abraham Jr., Grace and Ethan Abraham and McKenna Cook.

Donna was also survived by her twin Darlene Whiting, and sisters Marcia Eavans and Lois Manion, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Donna was predeceased by her husband, Louis, and sister, Sharon Flewelling.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to The Pines Nursing Home in Glens Falls which took such wonderful care of their mother.

Hilda Aison, age 90, passed away on Friday, May 10^th, 2013 at Wesley Health Care Center.

She was born on December 21^st, 1922 in Saratoga Springs, New York to Jacob and Rebecca Aison.

Hilda is survived by her nephews: Everett Aison of Bellingham, WA; Howard (Margaret) Aison of Amsterdam, NY; Scott Aison; Steven Aison, nieces: Eunice (Steven) Schwartz of Johns Creek, GA; Sondra (Marshall) Lipman of Williamsville, NY and a number of grandnieces and grandnephews

Hilda was an avid walker.  She was a long time volunteer/worker at Wesley Health Care Center, at the Saratoga Tourism Booth, and at the Saratoga County Board of Elections.  For many years, her father Jacob owned Jakes Grill on Putnam St in Saratoga Springs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Nathan, Robert and Max and her sister Selda.

A graveside service will be held at the Congregation Shaara Tfille, 84 Weibel Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY a  t 2 p.m. on Monday, May 13^th, 2013.

Todd Elthan Peacock

 

      
Todd Elthan Peacock, 44 passed away on Sunday June 9, 2013, peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.

Todd was born in Saratoga Spring, N.Y. on January 27, 1969 and raised in Greenfield Center. He attended Saratoga Springs High School. He was the son of Elthan Peacock and Susan Bondzinski.

Todd was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed ice fishing on Lake George and Schroon Lake.  Most of all he enjoyed hunting with his dad.  He loved spending time with his family.

While in New Mexico, Todd was employed by the Boca Ranch as a patrolman
to watch for elk poachers.

Todd was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Local Union 370 for 26 years.  He was an excellent carpenter.

While spending time with his mother and sister in Florida, Todd coached a Dixie Youth team with his uncle and brother in law. That year they won, and went to all stars.

Todd is survived by his father Elthan (Joan) Peacock of Greenfield Center, mother Susan (John) Bondzinski of Wildwood FL, Daughter Jasmine Everetts of Ballston Spa, Sister’s Kathy (Tim) Monica of Porter Corners, Ginger (Mike) Jacobs of  Wildwood FL, Stepsisters Debbie (Mike) Tallman of Saratoga Springs, Lori (Scott) Shultz of Niantic, Conn, Stepbrothers, George (Michele) Howe of Latham, Tim (Jeanne) Howe of Gansevoort, Mike (Tonni) Bondzinski of Ocala, FL, Bryan (Angela) Bondzinski of Houston, TX, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
