Thomas Vincent Pravda





Thomas Pravda, 51, of Stillwater, passed away suddenly after a tragic accident in Saratoga Springs on November 10, 2013. 

He was born on October 11, 1962 the son of George and Gertraud (Mangold) Pravda in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Thomas graduated from Saratoga High School.  Thomas worked for many years at the family business Lakeside Market making his well-known subs and pizza; he also was the Owner/Operator of Saratoga Masonry Cleaners for many years. Thomas was very instrumental in the early sub-divisions of the family properties.  

Thomas enjoyed riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, horses, traveling, spending time with his family and friends, and maintaining his large yard. 

He is survived by his daughter, Karleigh Daigneault (Justin); mother Gertraud Pravda; father George Pravda; grandson Mason Daigneault; uncle Frank Pravda; aunt Helen Pesch; and many cousins.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013,  12:00 noon, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue in Saratoga Springs 584-4844. Where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.

After the service on Saturday the family would ask for some private time for them to grieve.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Thomas can be made to the Estherville animal Shelter (100 Russell Rd., Greenfield Center, NY) or Wilton Food Pantry (155 Ballard Rd., Wilton, NY).

Sylvia Rodites Georgeadis




Sylvia Georgeadis, 67, of Saratoga Springs, NY passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 8, 2013 after a courageous battle with breast cancer that spanned over the last ten years.  She was able to find the best in every day and was able to thank God for every one she lived.  Sylvia was born on February 5th, 1946 in New Kensington, PA.  She was the daughter of the late Pete and Mary Rodites of New Kensington, Pennsylvania.  Sylvia was the high school sweetheart and wife of Alexander Georgeadis for over 49 years.  Sylvia moved to South Windsor, Connecticut in 1964 where she lived for 40 years.  She was a legal secretary in Hartford, South Windsor and Vernon, Connecticut for several years.  Sylvia also served as president of the South Windsor YW Club where she and her husband enjoyed the many people they met while living there.  In 1985 Sylvia took a job as a guidance secretary at South Windsor High School where she worked until her retirement in 2006.  She so much enjoyed working with the guidance department that was a second family to her.  She loved all the students she was able to help through the years with their college search process.  They loved calling her "Mrs. G." 
Some of Sylvia's favorite pastimes were reading, cooking, and taking college courses at the local community college.  Her best times were those spent with her husband and children by birth and by marriage as well as her six grandchildren.  They were all the joy of her life.  Sylvia loved watching her grandchildren finding joy in the same things she once enjoyed as a child.  She was a long time member of the Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Hartford, CT.  She was also an editor of the church newspaper, "The Saint George Herald," and also the "St. George Consecration Book."  After retiring to Saratoga Springs, NY she became a member of Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany, NY. 
She is survived by husband Alexander,  son,  Nicholas and Amy Georgeadis and a daughter Maria and Josh Muldner -all of New York State.  Besides them, she is also survived by six loving grandchildren: Austin, Alexis, Marina, Juliana, Thomas, and Mitchell.  Sylvia is also survived by a sister Anita and George Burgard of East Pittsburgh, PA. as well as her husband's siblings and their children and grandchildren.   

The funeral service will be held on Monday Nov. 11, 2013, 11:00 AM, at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church located at 440 Whitehall Road in Albany, NY. 

Friends and family may call on Sunday Nov. 10, 2013 from 3:00-7:00PM with a memorial service at 6:30 at Compassionate Funeral Care located at 402 Maple Avenue (Rt. 9) in Saratoga Springs, NY.  

Interment in Maplewood cemetery Saratoga Springs, NY.

A luncheon will be held following the burial in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Frieda Rhodes

Frieda Rhodes, 87, of Saratoga Springs passed away on Saturday November 2nd 2013 at Saratoga hospital. 

Born in Wels, Austria, she is the daughter of the late Matthaus Leopoldsberger and Anna Schürrer.

She worked for many years as a nurse's aide at Maplewood Manor Nursing Home.

Frieda was an avid animal lover. She especially loved
horses. She was a horse owner and loved to bet on them. 
She was also a member of the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame,
the Old Timer's Club, she was also a former member of the Harness
Horsewomen's Assoc, and a volunteer at the Saratoga Harness
Hall of Fame.


Frieda always loved playing cards and many other games. 


 She survived by her nieces and some very special friends.

 Private services will be held in her honor at a later date.
