Robert A. Borowski




Robert A. Borowski, 63, passed away on Sunday April 27, 2014 at Albany Medical Center from a brief illness, with his loving family at his side.  He was born on November 29, 1950 the son of the late Stephen F. and Mary E. Fitzgibbon Borowski.

Robert was a graduate of Niskayuna High School and then attended St. Rose getting a degree in Drug and Alcohol Awareness. He worked for Conifer Park in Glenville as a Drug and Alcohol Coordinator.
Robert married Katherine Wemitt on June 27, 1985 and they spent 28 wonderful years together.  Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing his beloved guitar.  In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his wife, Katherine; son, Anthony P Weiler (Michelle) of Rexford; daughter, Elizabeth A. Jones (Jon) of Greenfield Ctr.; nephew, Michael E. Borowski of Schenectady; six grandchildren, Courtney Weiler, Tiffany Weiler, Brendan Weiler, Izabella Lashway, Nicholas Weiler, and Holliann Jones.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother Stephen A. Bowoski.

Funeral service in honor of Robert will be held on Friday May 2, 2014, 11:00 am, at Compassionate Funeral Care 402 Maple Ave. (Marion and Rte 9) Saratoga Springs, NY where friends and family my call from 9:30 to 10:45 am prior to the service.

Interment following the service in the North Milton Cemetery on Rte 29.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Robert’s family.

Angelo A. Scalo


Angelo A. Scalo, age 76 passed away on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 with his loving family close at hand.

He was born on January 2nd, 1938 in Saratoga Springs, NY to the late Edward and Bruna (Sansieveri) Scala.

Angelo retired from the New York Racing Association after 27 years. 

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his extensive collection of horse memorabilia, model cars, helicopters and planes. 

Angelo is survived by his wife of 47 years Helen (Zevetchin), sons; Edward (Sandra) of Wilton, NY, Andrew (Renee) Scalo of Wilton, NY sisters; Jean Addorisio of Boca Raton,  FL and Carmella Bruckner of Ballston Spa, NY, grandchildren; Joseph, Brendan, Luke, Nicholas and Hailey, and many nieces and nephews.

Vincent Joseph Tierney "Joe"




Vincent Joseph Tierney, age 79, of Casey Road, Schuylerville passed away on April 8, 2014 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 28th, 1935 in Mount Kisco, New York to Joseph Patrick Tierney and Violet Bushee Tierney.
 Joe worked for 36 years at the International Union of Operating Engineers (Local 137) in Briarcliff Manor, NY, retiring in 1990 after working on several major construction projects including the Tappan Zee Bridge.   Joe had a second career as an owner and trainer of standard-bred racehorses, at Saratoga Raceway. He was a member of the Saratoga Harness Horsepersons Association.  His training career was highlighted by winning the Irv Woodin Memorial Trot in 1998 with Speedy Breton and in 2000 with Copters Prince who also won the Harold Story trot in 2000.  Joe also had success with the trotter Morse Code. Joe enjoyed playing golf, spending time with his family and friends and rooting for his beloved Yankees.

James Merton Green Sr. “Jimmy”


James M Green Sr, age 60, passed away on April, 6th, 2014 at Albany Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
He was born on January 18, 1954 in Saratoga Springs, NY the son of Ralph Green Sr. and the late Jane M. Hilliker Green.
Jimmy grew up in Saratoga Springs and attended Saratoga High School
Jimmy started helping in his father’s business Adorn Tree Service in the 1970’s.
They went on and started Green Enterprise a Forestry division of logging, firewood and land clearing.  They also started Universal Homes, building numerous homes in Saratoga, Queensbury and Corinth.
Then Jimmy went out on his own and started J.G. Contracting doing property maintenance.
Jimmy enjoyed Hunting, fishing and spending time with his family at their Rackett Lake camp and the Farm in East Berne.

Minerva Gene Atwood

Minerva Gene Atwood, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 at Saratoga Hospital.

She was born on May 19th, 1924 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Walter H. Stone and Virginia Bolton.

Gene was a graduate of Solvay High School.  She was a homemaker, antique dealer and a very talented artist.

In 1943, she married Clinton H. Atwood on Christmas Eve while he was on leave from the United States Marine Corps.

Fred A. Lewis




Fred Lewis, 78, of Saratoga Springs, passed away on Wednesday April 2, 2014 with his beloved wife Pat, daughter Laurel and family at his side.  He was born on April 20, 1935 in Ballston Spa, NY the son of the late Frank Sr. and Alice Reed Lewis.
Fred grew up on the farm in Rock City Falls one of 14 children, attending Rock City Falls Elementary and Saratoga H.S. He served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1959.
Fred married the love of his life Patricia Vaness Aug. 25, 1962 and they spent 51 wonderful years together.
