Felix J. Milano “Phil’

SARATOGA SPRINGS. Felix J. Milano “Phil”, age 91, passed away April, 3rd, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital. 

Felix was born April 17, 1921 in Amsterdam, NY the son of the late Philip and Grace Guiffre Milano. 

He spent his childhood working as a delivery boy, later moving on to help his father peddle fruits and vegetables.  Eventually his father became the owner of a Grocery Store and with Phil’s hard work he was given half ownership in the store.

Phil was called to serve his country in the Army in 1943.  This was the beginning of a distinguished military campaign in which he was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star and Purple Heart.

After his honorable discharge from the military he went back to work with his parents at the grocery eventually opening Market Hill Food Center and the Rockton Y which became a very popular food market.  Phil also opened Dutch Treat Donuts store and remained there until he moved to the farm in Hagaman to raise horses.

Predeceased by daughter Carol Milano.

He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Milano (Barry Segel) of Saratoga; son Philip Milano of Saratoga; grand-children Talia Lindheimer (Erick), P.J. Milano (Becky), Joel Villa (Lisa), and Richard Villa; great – grandchild Zack Lindheimer, Zoe Villa and Jake Villa.

Funeral service in honor of Phil will be held on Monday April 8th, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave (also route 9), Saratoga Springs, NY.  A viewing will be held on Monday from 4-5:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment with full military honors will be held on Tuesday April 9th, 2013, at 12:30 PM at the Gerald B. H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
