Steven A. Begni Sr.






Steven A. Begni Sr., age 73, passed away on July 30, 2014 at his home in Saratoga Springs surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 29, 1941 in Manhattan, NY to Ado Begni and Stella (Smaligo) Begni.

Steve graduated from Bedford Park Academy, Class of 1958

Steve retired from the New York State Department of Corrections as a Sergeant in 2001.

Steve enjoyed hunting, camping and riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with family and friends at the family camp in Schroon Valley.

Steve is survived by his wife Jill, daughter; Michelle Ann Begni Hymer, Michele Leigh Brannon, son; Jeremy Robert Smith, son-in-law; Edward Brannon, daughter-in-law Patricia Smith, grandchildren; Haleigh Elizabeth Brannon, Myah Grace Brannon, Eadie Kate Brannon, Christopher John Smith, Audrey O’Brien Smith, Annie Elizabeth Smith, Jacob Christian Hymer, and Stella Grace Hymer.   

He is preceded in death by his father Ado Begni, mother Stella (Smaligo) Begni and son Steven A. Begni Jr..

A memorial service in honor of Steven will be held on Saturday August 9, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, New York.
Calling hours will be held from 1-3:45 pm on Saturday August 9, 2014 at Compassionate Funeral Care.

Arrangements are under the direction of Compassionate Funeral Care, Inc, 402 Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude's children's hospital or a charity of your choosing.

  1. Dear Begni Family, I worked with Steve for a long time. To say he made going to work enjoyable would be an understatement. He was always there for you when needed. He had a personality that lit up a room. Always a gentleman, and respected by all. Many Mid-Orange Corr. Fac. "Old Timers" remember him well. May Steve rest in peace with the Angels. Right now his Mom and Dad and his Son have him in their arms. Godspeed my friend. Blessings to all.

    Please know how sorry I am to hear of Steve's passing. We are old friends from Inwood and remained close through time. Rest in Pease Steve.
